Pres. Rouhani: Iran ready to expand ties with Algeria
Tehran, Jan 16, IRNA – President
Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday voiced Iran's readiness to promote relations with
Algeria.
Speaking during a meeting with
Speaker of Algerian National People's Assembly Said Bouhaja on the sidelines of
the 13th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member-States underway
in Tehran, the Iranian president said that the two countries have to make every
effort to give a boost to all-out cooperation.
Underlining the need to promote economic cooperation between the two countries,
including cooperation in Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), President
Rouhani said that Iran is ready to boost relations with Algeria in different
trade, economic and investment areas.
Referring to close viewpoints of Iran and Algeria on regional and international
issues, the president said: 'Today that the Muslim world is facing many
problems and challenges, the two countries have to boost their cooperation to
help solve the issues facing the region and the Muslim world.'
He noted that further enhanced parliamentary relations between Tehran and
Algiers can positively affect bilateral relations to achieve common goals.
The Algerian speaker, for his part, condoled with the Iranian government and
nation on the demise of a number of Iranian sailors in the Sanchi tanker
incident.
Noting that relations between the two countries are positive, Bouhaja called
for further efforts by the two sides to accelerate the implementation of the
already reached agreements.
