Iran alerts US against violation of JCPOA: Top negotiator
Vienna, March 17, IRNA – Violation of the Iran nuclear deal and the rights of Iranian prisoners in the US have been the issues against which the top Iranian negotiator officially warned the American side here on Friday.
Iran expects freedom of its nationals and respect for their basic human
needs, Abbas Araqchi told the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRNA) in an
interview in the Austrian capital on the sidelines of the 11th joint
commission meeting of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Families
of the Iranians, who have been arrested and jailed in US mostly due to
the so-called violation of the sanctions laws, are worried about the
situation of their relatives, Araqchi said. 'Our human duty in the
Foreign Ministry is to support our nationals.'
Iran has clearly stated that they (Iranian prisoners in the US) have not breached any rules but served their country, he added.
To
a question about his meetings in Vienna, Araqchi said he held separate
talks with all sides - US, France, Russia, China and Germany - excluding
Britain because it was not feasible to arrange the meeting.
The
talks, Iran's deputy foreign minister added, focused on the JCPOA, ways
of its better implementation, and removing the existing problems.
About
his talks with the American side, Araqchi said it solely concentrated
on implementation of the July 2015 nuclear deal and violation of
commitments to it.
Iran has repeatedly said that it is ready to deal with the possible withdrawal of the US from JCPOA.
The
joint commission of the JCPOA convened in Vienna on Friday with the
attendance of representatives from all signatories to the Iran nuclear
deal also known as JCPOA.
