Iran wants more facilities for Iranian tourists in Armenia
Moscow, Feb 23, IRNA – Iran envoy to Armenia said Tehran expects Yerevan to provide more facilities for Iranians who travel to Armenia for different purposes.
In a meeting with Suren Karayan,
Armenia Minister of Economic Development and Investments, Iranian Ambassador
Kazem Sajjadi called for removing transit tariffs for Iranian trucks and buses
and setting up more Halal food centers in Armenia for Iranian tourists.
The roads connecting the two countries are said to be inappropriate and most of
the drivers say that there are not enough traffic signs, said the ambassador.
Iranian envoy also called for boosting cooperation between Iran private sector
organizations and Armenia.
Both sides emphasized the importance of developing relations between Iranian
and Armenian companies to invest in Meghri free zone.
Meghri, is a town and the centre of the urban community of Meghri, in Syunik
Province at the south of Armenia, near the border with Iran. According to the
2016 official estimate, Meghri's population is around 3,500.
