Iran introduces ports potentials in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, Feb 23, IRNA – A meeting to introduce Iran ports capacities with a focus on Chabahar Port was held in Malaysia with the attendance of Iranian Ambassador in Kuala Lumpur Marzieh Afkham.
The meeting held in Klang Port was
also participated by Iranian port officials, manufacturers, businessmen and
industrialists.
The event was organized by Iran diplomatic mission in Malaysia.
The representatives of logistic marine, shipping, sea transportation, and
packaging attended the meeting.
Chabahar Port in south of Iran and north of Sea of Oman is one of the most
important ports in this region which has access to high seas, Afkham said.
Thanks to its strategic position, Chabahar has the closest access to Central
Asian countries' markets like those of Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan,
Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, she said.
promotion of Makran and Chabahar to reinforce international sea transportation
network is of high importance, she added.
Iranian ambassador expressed hope for the meeting to bring about new
opportunities for developing economic cooperation between Tehran and Kuala
Lumpur.
Meanwhile, Iran commercial attaché to Malaysia Esmail Takieh Sadat told the
Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that the meeting aims at facilitating
trade, attracting Malaysian investors and inviting them to create an active
shipping mechanism.
Chabahar Port is a seaport in Chabahar located in southeastern Iran, on the
Gulf of Oman. It serves as Iran's only oceanic port, and consists of two
separate ports named Shahid Kalantari and Shahid Beheshti, each of which has
five berths.
Klang or Kelang, officially Royal Town of Klang, is a royal town and former
capital of the state of Selangor, Malaysia. It is located within the Klang
District.
