Armenian parliament supports economic development with Iran




Moscow, Feb 6, IRNA – Armenian Parliament Vice-Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov in meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Yerevan Kazem Sajjadi on Tuesday underlined support of his country's parliament for economic development with Tehran.

In the meeting, which took place in Iran's embassy building in Yerevan, Sharmazanov pointed to long background of friendship between the two countries, and said that Iran's role in contemporary world and Caucasus Region is very important and effective.

He also appreciated Iran's balanced stances on Karabakh dispute and said that Armenian parliament spares no effort to develop ties with Tehran.

Sharmazanov pointed to membership of Armenia in Eurasia Union and called for Iranian companies to participate in Armenia business field, especially in Moghri Free Trade Zone.

Sajjadi pointed to role of parliaments in support for development and expansion of cooperation, especially in the fields of economic and commerce and added that the recent visit of Armenia parliament friendship group to Iran and their meetings with Iranian counterparts formed a dynamic position for developing trade and commercial relations between the two states.

Armenia with around 30,000 square kilometers area and a population of 3 million is located in Caucasus region.
