Saipa Diesel to become exporting hub for Volvo trucks in region

Tehran, Feb 3, IRNA – Vice-President of Volvo Trucks Company Helen Melquist said here on Saturday that Saipa Diesel is to turn to an exporting hub for Volvo Trucks in the region.

She added that the rise in indigenizing the trucks as well as exporting hub are two main programs of the company in Iran.

She made the remarks on the sidelines of visiting Saipa Diesel and said that there is close cooperation between the two companies now.

After holding talks with managing director of Saipa Diesel, Melquist said the two sides had good negotiations on production, joint venture, financial issues and customer services.

She added that one of Volvo Trucks Company strategies in Iran is to turn Saipa Diesel to an exporting hub in the region.

Considering the existing capabilities for making parts in Iran upon world and Volvo Trucks standards, the two companies are working jointly on the issue, which by maintaining qualification of products some appropriate percentage of spare parts will be indigenized in Iran.

President of Volvo Trucks Company Claes Nilsson said last December that Iran has educated manpower and qualified engineers, so maybe one day the two sides cooperate on indigenizing motor and gearbox in Iran.

He also pointed to conducting feasibility studies on exporting manufactured trucks in Iran to other countries of the region and the neighboring countries, and said that Volvo Trucks Company is working on the case.
