TEHRAN (Tasnim) - UK opposition Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn said his party would do "everything we can" to prevent a no-deal Brexit.

Jeremy Corbyn: We Will Do ‘Everything’ to Prevent No-Deal Brexit

Speaking on the BBC's Andrew Marr Show, Corbyn said that if MPs reject Theresa May's Brexit deal in a parliamentary vote Tuesday — as is widely expected — he would press for a general election. But he declined to say when he would lay a vote of no confidence in the government that would be necessary to trigger such an election.

Asked if it would immediately follow the ratification vote, he said, "We will table a motion of no confidence in the government at a time of our choosing — but it’s going to be soon, don’t you worry."

If the no-confidence vote fails, then it is Labor policy to back other options including a potential second referendum, Politico reported.

When asked for his personal view on holding a second national vote, the Labor leader said: "My own view is that I would rather get a negotiated deal now, if we can, to stop the danger of a no-deal exit from the EU on March 29 which would be catastrophic for industry, catastrophic for trade ... We will do everything we can to prevent a no-deal exit."

In response to the interview, Brandon Lewis, Conservative Party Chairman said: “Jeremy Corbyn wants a general election on Brexit, but this morning failed five times to say what he would actually do on Brexit.

“He also confirmed Labor would delay Brexit by extending Article 50 — perhaps because he needs time to make up his mind," he added.
