Iran ready to increase electricity exports two-fold

برق

Tehran (ISNA) – The CEO of Iran Power Transmission, Generation and Distribution Company (Tavanir), Mohammad Hassan Motevalizadeh announced that the amount of electricity exporting from Iran to other countries is very low compared to the production amount, while there is a potential to increase the electricity exports up to twice the current level.

In an interview with ISNA news agency, Motevalizadeh said, “Currently, Iran exports more than 1000 megawatt electricity to neighboring countries. The main importer of Iran’s electricity is Iraq but our country also exports electricity to other countries such as Afghanistan and Pakistan”.

“Iran has established an electrical connection with almost all countries that it has common border with them and our condition is very good in this field but it doesn’t mean that there is no possibility to increase the electricity exchanges” he added.
