Producer hopes his comedy drama ‘Beautiful Jinn’ will premiere in January

Tehran, Dec 29, IRNA - Iranian film producer Mehrdad Farid said he hopes his comedy drama ‘Beautiful Jinn’ will premiere concurrently in Iran and Turkey in early January.

‘Beautiful Jinn’, directed by Bairam Fazli, was scheduled to be screened last week but it was postponed.

Speaking to Honar on Line, Farid hoped that once the bureaucratic snags are overcome, the film will go on screen on January 3.

The movie, filmed in the central province of Isfahan, is a joint Iran-Turkey production.

Turkish actress Nurgül Yeşilçay and celebrated Iranian actor Farhad Aslani play the leading roles in the flick.

Farid also said the Turkish actress will be present in the upcoming premiere of the film.

Yeşilçay plays the role of a character named ‘Delaram’ who is deaf and dumb due to her past trauma.

“It can be a very good experience since my character does not speak at all, and I get the chance to use more gestures and mimics,” she said about her role.

Yeşilçay, 42, studied drama at the State Conservatoire of Anadolu University in Turkey. Since her graduation, she has performed several major roles on stage including Opheila in ‘Hamlet’.

Theater aside, she shot to prominence as the lead in, among others, three record-breaking Turkish TV series including ‘Love and Punishment’ and ‘Broken Pieces’.

She made her screen debut in 2001 in ‘The Waterfall’. So far, she has appeared in over 20 films and series and won several awards.
