Iran women playing key roles in society

Tehran, Dec 17, IRNA – The project manager of DocsBarcelona international documentary film festival says that Iranian women play important role in society despite western media's propaganda.

“Some Western media stress that Iran neglects women's rights, but I observed short trip that the country’s women are strong and active and play important roles in society,” Elena Subirà i Roca told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) in Tehran. 

The Spanish cultural activist called the approach hired by western media one-sided, adding that they spread information based on their interests and she did not witnessed closed and limited society as western media claim. 

She went on to say that Iran is a safe country with hospitable people and she would recommend Spanish people not to miss visiting Iran. 

'I believe that Iran is a spectacular country and its culture is the cradle of cultures around the world,' she noted. 

Roca stressed that Iran produces rich movies and cultural products, which can alter the negative viewpoints that some media are trying to spread. 

Portraying Iranian women and the wide range of activities they engage with in the society is an interesting area for foreign filmmakers to create movies within, she said. 

Roca visited Iran’s capital city of Tehran to attend the 12th edition of Iran International Documentary Film Festival, Cinema Verite, which was held from December 9-16. 

DocsBarcelona film festival will take place on May 15-26, 2019 in Spain’s northeastern city of Barcelona.
